Our DNA Policy

Unfortunately due to demand for appointments, we have a policy in place to ensure that we do not have large instances of missed appointments. As we are all human and we understand mistakes can happen, we allow for three missed appointments in any twelve month period.

Should a patient fail to attend three appointments in a twelve-month period, they will be asked to find another practice. 

You will be notified after every missed appointment, either by text or by letter. 

Any appointments that have been cancelled with less than one hour notice, will be marked as 'DNA' (did not attend) and the above policy will apply.

How to Cancel an Appointment

As stated above, we require at least one hours notice prior to your appointment time. 

You can cancel an appointment by doing the following:

  1. By telephoning reception on 0131 552 7676.
  2. By emailing clinical.s70272@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk with the subject line 'CANCEL APPOINTMENT'
  3. Sign up to our appointment reminder service, where you will receive an option to cancel via text.
